Where We Started… and Where We Still Have to Go

Where we started

May 2014

Dear Friends of the Las Vegas Buddhist Sangha,

The Las Vegas Buddhist Sangha has, since its inception 28 years ago, planned to buy a building in which to hold its services and host various cultural activities. To that end, we have scrimped and saved, but were always well short of the funds needed to purchase a suitable structure. In the past few years, the rising stock market and the bursting of the housing bubble have together made it possible to purchase a building. Since we took ownership in late November, 2013, we have made great strides, as you can see from the photo above. While it looks pretty good, we still have a lot of details to follow up on, plus we have major items that still need to be installed, such as a security system, an audio/visual system, security wrought iron doors and door bars, cages around the roof top HVAC units, etc.

The bottom line is that we are closer to our bottom line than we should be. In order to pay for these additional items, and to replenish our cash reserves, we are continuing our fundraising campaign.

We hope that you will be able to help us in this fundraising effort. We are excited that we have permanent home as we approach our 30-year anniversary. With your help, we can continue creating a place for our Sangha to grow and flourish; a place where everyone is welcome to visit when coming to Las Vegas.

We thank you for your past and future generosity!
